Explore the Award-Winning Sunriver Arts Fair, Aug 9-11

Central Oregon may be best known as a mecca for beer lovers, mountain tamers, and intrepid cyclists, but this booming mountain-side community is also home to a thriving and exciting arts scene with a yearly tradition that’s made its way into the national spotlight.

Coming into its tenth year, the annual Sunriver Arts Fair has been named a top-ten Best Art Fair in America by Artfaircalendar.com, a patron-voted program meant to encourage attendance by highlighting innovative and exciting shows nationwide. Cascade Sotheby’s is proud to be a Premier Sponsor of the Sunriver Arts Fair, as a way of helping to make art, music, and culture more accessible throughout the community.

Raising Funds for Local Families & Children

The fair serves as the largest fundraising event for the Sunriver Women’s Club, a nonprofit corporation which, since its founding in 1974, has distributed $537,055 to agencies working to provide basic necessities, such as shelter, health, food, clothing, and education to families and children in the Three Rivers and south Deschutes County areas. All net proceeds of the Sunriver Arts Fair directly benefit these children and families.

About the 2019 Fair

This year, the event features more than 80 artists and makers from Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and as far away as Illinois. Each brings a unique aesthetic, mission, and craft to the table, making the diversity of mediums represented truly reminiscent of of Central Oregon, and of the west itself.

With hand-spun ceramics and mosaic sculpture to woodworking, metalworking, textiles, and painting, the fair is an opportunity for attendees to experience creation in various forms and connect with the local art community in an intimate and lively setting. And because no great summer celebration is complete without a live soundtrack, each day of the festival hosts different musical acts to inspire the spirit and, hopefully, the feet with a little incentive to hit the dance floor.

12 Perfect Beach Cottages for Sale in Oregon Right Now

Some things are so quintessentially summer that it’s hard to separate the season from the sensation. The ease of cold water sipped straight from the garden hose; the way melted ice cream stays sticky between your fingers; the smell of sunscreen and sea air. We learn young about the magic of summer through 12 gloriously school-free weeks each year. That magic tends to dissipate later in life — typically somewhere between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm on any given weekday. But just because we outgrow childhood, doesn’t mean we can’t discover new ways to enjoy the season of carefree living.

The Perks of Coastal Living

There’s a reason people of all ages are flocking to coastal cities large and small all across the U.S. In fact, there’s a lot more than one. Not only does life along the sea’s edge offer myriad lifestyle and recreation opportunities, there are a number of health, environmental, and financial benefits to coastal living, as well.
